First, I want to say thank you so much for all of your suggestions. You ladies are soooooo creative. It was really hard for me to choose. I loved reading what the pattern reminded you of and your inspiration for the names you suggested. Trust me the name I would have chosen would not have been as creative. I did a search on Ravelry to ensure that there weren't any other patterns with the same names. My top five choices are listed below. Voting will close on Saturday Nov 14th at noon.

Sarasvati
"As a river/water goddess, Saraswati symbolizes fertility and prosperity. She is associated with purity and creativity, especially in the context of communication, such as in literary and verbal skills. In the post-Vedic age, She began to lose her status as a river goddess and became increasingly associated with literature, arts, music, etc. Her name literally means "the one who flows", which apparently was applied to thoughts, words, or the flow of a river."

Sinuosity
The quality or state of being sinuous. Sinuous - of a serpentine or wavy form.

Pattern Naming Contest

I have finally finished my second sock pattern. I love the way it turned out with the beautiful Destination Yarn. I used the America the Beautiful collection in colorway sea. Usually when I complete a pattern I know what it should be named. Not so much this time.

So I have decided to solicit your help. Leave a comment with suggestions for pattern names from today til Sunday Nov 8th. I will then pick my top 5 favorites and we will vote on a winner. The winner will receive a copy of the pattern and a skein of the gorgeous destination yarn (color tbd). So far I have one suggestion, I think it was from Annie in my knitting group, Bubble socks.

Saartje's Bootees

I couldn't resist making these for a friend of mine who just had a baby. I keep seeing this pattern all over Ravelry and have favorited several finished projects. It took me about an hour to make each bootie and the end result was so worth it. I love the pink and brown color combo for baby girls. Just too cute!!!

Verdict: I love how they turned out.
Modifications: I wanted these to fit a 6 to 9 month old
baby so I used a heavier yarn than the original pattern
calls for. They turned out just the right size.

These are addictive. I usually make baby socks with my left over sock yarn but I think I may just have to use it to make another pair of these. ;o)

Contest for 2nd Blogiversary

I can't believe that it's been 2 yrs already. 2 yrs that have brought me many new knitting friends not to mention many laughs. So to celebrate I think a contest is in order. First up is three skeins of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Super Chunky. There is enough to knit a hat and gloves. I made a pair of these great gloves with the same yarn for my grandmother.

Process or Project.......

I have always been a process knitter. I've never really cared about whether or not I was going to actually wear the finished object. That seems to be changing lately. I think it's because I want to make the most of my knitting time because it is an investment of both my time and money. That being said if I don't really love a pattern I find it hard to knit whether it's for myself or a gift. I've also been craving some instant gratification knitting and is probably why I have been knitting so many socks. This makes fours pairs of socks for me now. They're almost too pretty to wear.

Verdict: I love this yarn and the Fushcia color is beautiful.
